Trapped in the valley, Lost in the wilderness?

Something lame happen. Was serving the NET early in the morning (1am) and was searching for lame jokes to add on to my bank. Sadly and unfortunately, I entered a spam webpage. End up my PC was loaded with Spyware and all sorts of Pops-up appearing. What a day! Then I end up having to reformat my PC. I am not a PC person so doing all these kind of work is tedious. But thank God, this is not the first time I'm doing reformatting and uploadin all the necessary software. So it took me quite a fast time to finish. (as you see tat this is not the first time i'm reformattting my PC, it means my PC had been previously abused by me b4. muahahaha) But thank God my PC is back to its original state.

Today, is the release of the 'O' Level results. Many of the youths did quite well and really thank God for that. It really brought memories to all the time when I received my major exams results. First was PSLE. Disppointing 221/300. And worse of all my maths got me an A instead of an A*. Then later was my 'O' Level resutls. Aggregate score of 16 points. Erhhh. My sis got 6 points. Another flop. Then was my 'A' Level resuls. Got B for Economics, C for Accounting and C for Management (this result is a testimony of God's goodness because during my 2 year on this subject, I never pass because I really am no good in it. But then, I got a C which everyone thought that was impossible) But my GP got a D7. That's it. The ultimate death sentence. I knew with this results I am not getting into any local university. And I was scared to face my parents and break the news to them. And what's the scariest is that I thought my future was gone, down the drain. But looking back now, I see God's hands at work. Even though during my 'O' and 'A' Level periods, I wasn't doing well in my subjects but I see that God was actually drawing me back to Him. I was in Catholic school for both my Secondary and Junior College. Through the daily singing of hymns, weekly Mass and Christian activities, I slowly turned back to God. Then when I received my 'A' Level results, I knew that I could not depend on myself and have to trust God. Then I entered army for my national service. I went on for 2 years not knowing what is lying ahead of me. But I trust that the Lord will deliver me through. And indeed He did. When I was about to leave army, I found out that I was eligible to take up this professional accounting course which will end up with a degree. I was really delighted because when I am in the deep valley, He was the light to me and He showed me the way out. Praise be to God. Let's us put our faith in God and even when we are lost in the wilderness or trapped in the valley, let's fixed our eyes on God for He is our refudge, our fortress, our shelter. Amen!

PIERCED FOR OUR TRANSGRESSIONS
The preacher was talking about a church in Manhattan. It was called St. Paul's Church. It is situated just nearby the World Trade Centre. During the 911 incident, it became a resting centre for the many firemen and nurses. There was an interesting sight in that church. There were a number of shoes hanging on the fencing. Later, it was found out that it belongs to the firemen. Many firemen after receiving the recall, immediately went straight to the incident site. They changed into their fire-fighting gear in the church and they left their shoes hanging on the fence. However, some of the firemen didn't make it out alive and their shoes were left on the fence. In memory of these brave firemen who sacrificed their lives to save those who they did not even know, the shoes were left untouched.
Today's sermon is taken from the book Isaiah 53. It talks about Jesus being despised and rejected even though He was the true Saviour. Many did not believe Him because the Jews expected their Saviour to be someone great, a King, a ruler, somebody who can help them to overturn their enemies. But Jesus came on a donkey, He was a carpenter, He was just any other person. In this chapter, it also mentioned that His appearance was not appealing. Many people didn't take Him seriously and even reject and despise Him. Despite all these, Jesus knew that His final destination is to die on the cross for us. In verse 5, it says "But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed." He went through all these sufferings just so that we could be reconciled to God. Isn't that wonderful? But it is a high price or rather an invaluable price to be paid.
The firemen sacrificed their lives while saving people trapped in the burning building. What a noble act.
Jesus died so that all mankind can be saved. That's even a more noble act.
In Mark 8:34, Jesus told His disciples to 'deny themselves and take up the cross and follow me'. To take up the cross doesn't mean that we should go and die. Rather what Jesus meant was that as we walk the path of our faith, we may have to make sacrifices. It is not easy but it is not impossible. Becoz Jesus had gone through the toughest sacrifice. So let's us not give up hope and continue to persevere on because we know our treasures are in heaven. Let's continue to stir one another till we finish the race. Amen!

Sat is a long and busy day

After Youth Fellowship, Daniel, ShiWei, Xavier, Xin Ling, Wen Yuan, Jamie, Yvonne and Me went to Tampines Mall for dinner. As usual, we took like a good 30 hour before deciding where to eat. We went to eat Long John Silver. Feeling a bit tight in my pocket, I decided to get the 2 piece chicken meal which cost me $3.60. (pathethic) haha. And as we eat, we talk a lot of "qian4 bian3 wen4 da2 ti2" (literal translation: "asking for trouble questions" or which actually means riddles that have lame answers)
1) 小明为什么要爬楼梯?
因为楼梯痒
2) 哪一个艺人, 不管你出什么数学题目, 他的答案总是10?
周杰伦. 因为他直爱蔡依琳 (猜一O)

haha. Lame jokes. After dinner, actually wanted to go for a Pool game but realised some of them are under age. And I'm very proud of them becoz they could try their luck and see if they can smuggle into the Pool centre but they did not. That's the way. Do what is right in the eyes of God. We then go walk walk at Pasar Malam. After a few rounds, we are back at an air con place, McDonald. We carried on some more lame jokes. (what to do when a bunch of lame people come together) haha. Had an ice cream and call it a day!
Saturday is always a busy but exciting day for me!

God our Judge

During my small group session in our Youth Fellowship, we talk about God being the Judge. The first question asked was why does God judge? Becoz God is a righteous God and He cannot stand evil and wickedness. He is the one who made us and who owns us, He has the right to make laws for us and to reward us or punish us accordingly. He is the standard, the benchmark. He is above everything and nothing is greater than Him. We are imperfect and are always vulnerable to make mistakes. And many times we make mistakes even though knowing that it is wrong. God has no choice but to judge us accordingly and give us what we are due. But when we do something good whether big or small, He remembers and will reward us becoz He knows we did it in His name and He is proud of us!
Then how are we judged by God?
God judges our thoughts and actions.
God is omniscience and He knows every thoughts that is going through our mind. In Mat 12:35-37, it says "The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him. But I tell you that men will have to give account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken. For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.” Therefore we have to constantly be cautious and even to deliberately watch over our thoughts and to flee away from any evil intention. In our group (an all- guys group), I brought up the issue of looking at girls. There's always the desire to talk a longer look at a pretty girl. I told them that when we first see a pretty girl, it is not wrong as our eyes are grown on our face and there's nothing we can stop people from walking past our eyes. But then when we intentionally take a second look, that's when we've sinned because we had lust over the look of that girl. Our eyes are the windows to our heart and mind. So let us not pollute our mind and heart with what we see.
God also judge our actions. As Christians, our sins have already been forgiven on the cross and we won't be condemned as sinners. However, we will still be judged on what we had done on this earth. What we do will reflect on how much we understand God's plans and how much we love Him. If we truly love Him, we will try all means to keep our ways pure and holy. In Colossians 1:10, Paul prayed this, "And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God"
Let us therefore not give up the race but continue to persevere on for this time on earth is a short and temporary one. Our treasures will be stored in heaven and let's us look towards what Jesus has done for us and in our lives. And as Easter week is coming, let's pray for our love ones that have not known Christ yet. Praise and honour be to our God! Amen!

First Youth Worship Practise

Fantastic! Our first Youth Worship Practise and honestly I think we did a great job. We did the songs Touching Heaven Changing Earth and I know my redemeer is alive (mandarin) and I feel that we were nearly as good as top class. Xin Ling and Si En took turn on different songs at the electric guitar doing the distorted filling in while Wen Yuan blasting at her drum. And Ding Yi doing his harmony to the songs and Yvonne pouring out her voice. Woosshhhh! Brilliant I have to say for us to put up our act together for the first time. Really better than what I expected. Praise be to God for I do know that this bunch of young people love God and really want to praise Him. I'm still looking forward to the day when the whole band will be formed and we'll be rocking to our Rock!
