Woah! Finally, I'm back and I just love to update on all the missing things during my absence of about a month. BUt guess what? I dun seemed to be able to remember most of the things. I think i can only update according to what i can recall and it may not be in the right order. Hehe. Let me see!
I could remember the Crossroad Adventure. Held on one of the saturdays. Basically it is a competition where the teams have to compete to finish the food race. But the trick to the game is you got to link the last word of the food to the first word of the next food. And it goes on until the last and final dish. The first 4 dishes were pre-fixed. Maybe i introduce my team. My team got Ding Yi, Xin Ling, Yvonne, Jamie, Joanne. Within our own team, we played UNO and the loser of the round will get to miss one of the dish. COol! Then the first dish was to go to Bedok Central and look for a Holloywood Dessert stall. Suppose to eat Chendol. I kinda of cheated. I 'ta bao' (packet) the chendol, took the next clue and left with my team. Charles had to call me and tell me gently that that was against the rule. I cheekily smiled and said I dun know. Haha! Then the next stall was at Upper East Coast Road. Suppose to eat Yong Tau Fu but the stall is closed. So ended eating Thosai. Expensive boy! One normal thosai cost us 4 bucks. After the thosai, we move further down to a Chicken Rice Stall where we eat their Steam fish with bean sauce. Waited for quite a while but it's worth the waiting. Splendid dish, i would have to say. But not cheap! A small slice for 5 bucks. Then we headed for our last pre-fixed dish Katong Laksa. Ok not too bad. Eaten a few times so nothing special. Then we got our last clue. Ginger -based soup Rice Ball. Anyway the game is played in Mandarin. So from now and the next 3 dish, we must link the first word of the dish to the next and goes on until the 9th dish must end up as the Ginger-based soup Rice Ball. Well my group wasn't very imaginative, so we keep it simple and our first dish is Coarse Suger, den followed Sweet, den Chilled-Fruit Juice, Chilled Soya Bean Milk, which den the last dish was at Bedok North. By the time we reached there, we tot tat we may be the third or fourth. But to our surprise, we were first. Haha. Then after tat, we headed off to the final destination where we will have BBQ for dinner. Erh! After such a hectic race, i'm not sure if my 'warehouse' is ready to store any more things. 10min after reaching the venue, the next team came in and another 5 the next. Then we kinda waited for another hour before the rest of the teams came in. I guess they all tried to be too creative. Becoz teams with creative items on their list will get extra bonus point. After BBQ, the results were announced. Though my team came in first we didn't get first becoz there was a team who got the bonus point for their extraordinary dish, Claypot-frog legs. Haha. Maybe i shd have gone for Steam fish with earthworm kinda dish. Haha. But honestly, it wasn't really important for me to win the race or not. But from this race, I was very pleased to hear 2 things. Initially, when the group was formed, i jokingly told my team members that i nvr won a race, just like the previous race, Amazing Race! Everybody laughed at the remarks except for Ding Yi. He told me and i believe quite seriously, that this time will be different becoz this time the team has me and him. Both of us will make a difference. I was really touched by what he said and also very proud becoz of his confidence. Then another thing was during the race, I briefly mentioned that the next time the organiser shd organise on a bigger scale den it will be more fun. Then some of my team members replied saying that it's no point for them becoz by the next time, they would have most probably been put in charge to run the race. I thank God that they see a continuity in themselves in the YOuth Ministry. The youth ministry will not end with the Youth advisor but they the youths are starting to see a need to carry on the good work that God has started in the Youth Ministry. I praised the Lord for such thoughtful and selfless youths.
