Mirror On The Wall!

"Mirror, mirror on the wall! Who's the fatest, erhh no no, FAIREST of us all?"

What's the real purpose of a mirror? It's more than just reflecting an object but rather I believe the ignition of such invention was simply the desire to see oneself completely in one frame. It reflects the physical characteristics of ourself. And likewise, our life is also like a mirror.

Who do want to reflect in our life? The answer is simple. Jesus, no doubt about it. We are called to be the likes of Jesus and to follow His ways. It's not possible for us to fully reflect the perfectness in Christ but that should not deter us from following Christ.

And even as we follow Christ, our next tier of discipleship is like a mirror too. As leaders, our communion with our 'followers' will have a rub on effect on them. And their lives will be like a mirror reflecting certain characteristics and values of the leaders. This is called the Law of Mirror.

However, there's another accompanying law that is the Law of Emulation. If we want our 'followers' to learn and protrait some characteristics or values, we as leaders must first possess them. If not, we then cannot expect such values or characteristics to be reflected in the lives of the 'followers'. There's a saying that goes "Monkeys see, Monkeys do!"

On the Monkeys' business, there's another point to it. Recently, I found out that the mirrors in my house generate different emotions in me. Some makes me happy, some makes me wonder what's wrong, some makes me simply way too fat! It brings me to the point that the mirrors can be specifically crafted to give different effects. I guess the most ideal mirror is one that gives an illusion that everything is slimer than it is. Likewise our lives as a mirror, are we shaping it so that it gives a 'happy' feel but falsehood to the people around us or do we reflect the truth and that at times it may cause hurt but necessary to others. As it's a Monkey see Monkey do business, let's us really be serious and lead a life that is glorifying to God and edifying to our Brothers and Sisters' in Christ.

Lord! Help us to be a mirror that simply reflect the truth about Jesus Christ. Let us lead a life that protraits the likenss of Christ. And help us to be able to disciple others to be Christ like as well through our life. May Your name be glorified. Amen!

*in the content, i mentioned about 'followers'. It does not represent my follower per se but rather God's follower that is entrusted into my care.
